Hypnos: Dark Way – exclusive announcement of the game

Good day, dear ladies and gentlemen! Today, I am glad for you to present a project from the domestic team Noostyche – a game in the Adventure/Horror genre, called Hypnos: Dark Way, based on the famous Cryengine technology of the last generation!

So, I think that many of you have already seen very interesting Indie Horriers and other interesting indie games based on this well-known Cryengine technology, but it is unlikely that you have impressed you, is it not so much? And all because these were only small games created by one or two authors, out of brazenly stolen content, and without a particularly thought-out plot … And yet, there was one very interesting and thought out among these projects, which was clearly created alone and far from green beginners, and this project is just the same and bears the name of Hypnos: Dark Way. Perhaps you have once heard about this project for a long time, from one of my article, from another portal. However, then it was only the concept of a future and impressive idea. Since then, I have already managed to get acquainted with the developers of this project well, and learn a lot of new and interesting about it, t.To. He has already left the stage of the concept, and has turned into something more large -scale, ready for complete and detailed announcement, than I will do now.

This project is an adventure-game, with elements of Horror’a. According to the plot, there is a certain research complex called “hypnos”, which is engaged in the study of distance methods of influence and control of the consciousness of a person who is in a state of sleep. The main character is one of the former employees of the complex. The project was partially rolled through his fault, which is very tormented. After what happened, the protagonist is overcome by nightmares and flour of conscience. He decides to go to the complex in order to try again to figure out what actually went wrong.

This is the main idea of ​​the game, and although it may have seemed to you, a very short and general description, I boldly assure you, everything that will happen next will result in a truly exciting and unusual adventure, the adventure with many references, both to Greek mythology and to the psychology of a person as a whole. The gameplay, however, should be noted that it is very simple, but this does not prevent him from revealing the entire potential of the plot and the general atmosphere of the game! In addition, it is worth considering that the project was created by a very small group of enthusiasts who, at the beginning of their path, had to master all the tricks of the game engine and additional software, so, taking into account this aspect, all this looks very worthy. The gameplay, and the plot itself, will be the disclosure of everything that was in the past by the hero, all that he did not want to remember, but now all this is gradually returning. However, in fairness, it should be noted that the project is not a kind of classic horror, in the spirit of Slender or Outlast, it focuses more on the adventure element, on a special atmosphere, and a unique and unusual plot is all that many serious games are so lacking.

I also especially want to emphasize the fact that this project is one of the first full -fledged projects created by domestic developers on the Cryengine engine, and brought to the very stage when the release may well be possible. Indeed, in comparison with other few horror and adventures that were created on this technology and which I mentioned above, this project was created completely from scratch, there is no standard content, no models, no effects, nor even animations! That is why this project has been in development for so long, but the efforts are visible not in vain. You just take a look at the beauty and thoughtfulness of levels, like graphs in general: it is immediately clear that these people try to make a good schedule that is slightly inferior to a professional level.

However, in fairness, it should be noted that all this was created not by simple difficulty: the project has changed five times already and sometimes even so that it had to start everything, almost from the very beginning: everything, in order to get the game at a fairly good level. Also, a very unimportant factor is that this project is created on a bare enthusiasm, so people who, in addition to it, have to study or work on the project. Their team itself is very small, and it consists of about six people, but at different times other people also helped it, which was very well affected by the project. Nevertheless, the version that is planned for now, although it is possible and will be very short (no more than 2 hours in terms of duration), but it will absorb into itself, all the best, and will be able to surprise no less well. I saw their various closed shows and trailers, and I can say that even at the current stage of development, and in that version of the game, she intrigued me no less than the last AAA-Horror! So, I think, at the exit we will get a really interesting project, and if it turns out to be at least somewhat popular, and will collect at least small sales, then there will be a chance to see the second and most complete part of this wonderful project.

Why should I pay for not the most high-quality game, from some kind of self-taught? Hope for a good future? Or maybe it’s just all good promises, and we won’t see anything, and the developers so simply want to make up?

But, as if anticipating such questions, the project leader once said:

Our goal is not to stand out, not to do something just like that, from boredom. Our goal is to start our own business, which they dreamed of doing, perhaps, all their lives; give something special to people. But in order to give something special, you need to spend too much time and time, and this already excludes the possibility of earn money somewhere else and bring it to this business. You need to live on something, exist, be opportunity, and without money it is impossible. Therefore, we cannot do for free, we cannot give the game to lovers of illegal content, because because of this we simply die of hunger or go around the world. We can give something very cheap, cheaper than many, because money is not an end in itself, but only a means, but this, again, does not cancel the elementary needs that we must satisfy by receiving money for our activities .

According to the developers, in order for the game to pay off, about 30,000 copies sold are needed.

After I noticed a few outraged comments today, I decided to answer them all at once, in this small message.

So, I could tell about all this much more pathetic and even more detail, as many indie projects do, and even large games and even more so, but, as a rule, you would have received the product that you were waiting, and, as a result, accused the developers even more. That is why, they always talk about themselves as honestly as possible, and sometimes even more than modestly. Therefore, and I decided to make an article in that spirit.

Why is there so little information about the plot? Everything is extremely simple, the game will be very short, as I said earlier, which means that having given a little more information, I will already tell you a good portion of spoilers (therefore, by the way, the teaser turned out, so little informative), which will actually play in the future, in this project.

One of you wants a good gameplay, and thinks that it is very simple to make it. But this is far from the case! When the team is small, and the budget strives for zero, you always need to choose what is better to teach: atmosphere or gameplay. And t.To. The second is many times more difficult, and at the same time the first will suffer, then the developers simply decided to choose the first: T: T.e. Through the unusual atmosphere of the game, tell about an interesting plot, which is very few analogues. In general, gameplayo game will resemble Dear Esther, which by the way, is very popular with players. And given that the game will have a fairly rare atmosphere of unusual post-Soviet locations, with a reliable environment (including your everyone is loved by a carpet from a teaser), you can safely assure that domestic players will like this approach.
